• CONGRATULATIONS:

• The Wildcats were back at it in the pool today after a great meet Thursday night. They performed well with solid swims all around. The 6 team invitational brought in several out of town teams for a great day of swimming and diving. The Wildcats won 10/12 events and 1-2-3 placed both the 50 and 100 freestyle. Victories went to: Krissy Bazan, Sophie Kloppenburg, Kaleigh Kelley, Jaley Hamilton, Malley Wagner, Julien Glover, Maddie Maier.

CONGRATULATIONS:  The Mount Vernon Girls Swim Team had another victory over a solid Memorial squad 98-82 . Season bests and lifetime bests were plentiful! The team is really earning these top swims. Their work in the pool is top notch.

CONGRATULATIONS:
The boys basketball team beat the Salem Lions on Tuesday, December 27th  to improve to  3-4 on the season. Mt. Vernon led by 12 at halftime and then went on a 22-0 run in the 3rd quarter to stretch the game out. The Wildcats were led in scoring by Jackson Clowers with 17 points, Nicot Burnett with 15 points, and Logan Dutkiewicz with 14 points

CONGRATULATIONS: 

The boys basketball team protected their home floor and knocked off Gibson Southern Saturday evening 55-49. In a back and forth affair Mt. Vernon held the Titans to four 4th quarter points and made 5 of 7 free throws down the stretch to win. The Wildcats were led in scoring by Nicot Burnett with 16 points. Jack Campbell was huge off the bench with 13 points, including four 3 pointers. Jackson Clowers had 10 points and Brady Schickel had 9. 

The Wildcats will be back in action Tuesday night when they host Heritage Hills. JV tips at 5:30pm and Varsity will begin around 7pm.

TO THE STUDENTS:  

• Seniors vote for the Class motto, Class Ribbons and Class Flower today before noon.
• Seniors:  Christmas break would be a great time to complete your FAFSA.  Contact Mrs. Rose with questions.
• Did you miss out on the senior ceiling tile painting day? If so, seniors can still purchase ceiling tiles for $5. Contact Kaleigh Kelley to get a form filled out and the design approved if you are wanting to take a tile home to paint. 
• In January, Mt. Vernon will begin an eSports program to compete against other high schools in the state.  Students interested in being a part of the team, should see one of the posters hanging in the school and scan the QR code to complete an application.  If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Kissinger.

CONGRATULATIONS:

• Congratulations to the girls swim team on knocking off their rivals last night.  The Mt. Vernon Lady Wildcats sank the Castle Knights and the Boonville Pioneers in the meet hosted by Castle.Mt. Vernon took 1st and 2nd in 100 Yard Freestyle and the 100 yard Breastroke. MV also took 1st and 3rd in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, the 200 Yard Freestyle, and the 200 yard Freestyle Relay.  In the 50 Yard Freestyle Mt. Vernon was 1st and 4th.  Complementing these results were additional scoring in the 200 yard IM, 100 Yard Butterfly, 100 yard backstroke, 400 yard freestyle.  The final score was a commanding 138 points for Mt. Vernon to 107 points for Castle, 55 points for Boonville. Points and placing for MVHS:  Sophie Kloppenburg, Jaley Hamilton, Kaleigh Kelley, Krissy Bazan, Julien Glover, Andrea Rutledge, Malley Wagner, Haley Rutledge, Maddie Maier, Samantha Bouch, and Ellie Blackburn.

• Congratulations to the small, but mighty boys swim team on their strong performances at Castle.  Scoring for the 'Cats were Khai Willard, John Thomason, Mark Gray, Rossy Hollinger, Jaxston Raben, Scott Russell and Josh Schumate.  Josh won the diving portion of the meet while the boys team placed 2nd in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Jaxston Raben was second in the 100 yard freestyle and 3rd in the 50 yard freestyle, John Thomason was second in the 200 yard freestyle and Scott Rusell was 3rd in the 100 yard freestyle and 4th in the 50 yard freestyle.
