With nearly three decades of dedicated service in education, Kristen Dutkiewicz has spent her career advocating for students and empowering educators. She has served the MSD of Mt. Vernon community for eight years in leadership roles including classroom teacher, assistant principal, and principal. Kristen has also spent 20 years in other districts focusing on special education, serving both as a classroom teacher and as a special education department chair.
Kristen holds a Bachelor' s degree in Special Education, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership. She is deeply committed to fostering safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environments where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential. She believes that strong schools are built on collaboration, and she is passionate about partnering with teachers and students to help them discover their unique strengths and build the support systems necessary for lasting success.
In 2013, Kristen and her husband, Tom, relocated from upstate New York to make Mt. Vernon their home. Their roots in the community run deep: all three of their sons—Dylan (along with his wife, Madison), Ian, and Logan—are proud graduates of MSD of Mt. Vernon. Outside of her professional life, Kristen loves spending time with her family and treasures her role as Nana to her two grandchildren, Camden and Cora.
