About Synchronous Learning
Synchronous Learning at MSD of Mount Vernon allows students to engage in real-time virtual instruction with their teachers when traditional in-person learning is not possible. This format ensures instructional continuity and meets Indiana Department of Education requirements for instructional time.
What to Expect
On Synchronous Learning days:
- Elementary students receive live instruction in reading and math, plus support in other content areas through Google Classroom.
- Junior High and High School students follow a structured schedule for live content area instruction, office hours, and independent work.
- Attendance is taken through Skyward.
- Teachers, instructional aides, and support staff are available during designated hours to assist students and families.
Key Guidelines
- Live instruction must meet state-required minimum instructional time:
- Instruction should focus on current or review material, with flexibility for students lacking internet access.
- Office hours are provided for parent communication.
- Devices and learning materials should be sent home in advance.
Student Expectations
- Log into Google Classroom on time.
- Mute microphones unless speaking.
- Participate in live sessions and complete assigned work.
