Inclement Weather
At MSDMV, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. When winter weather or other hazardous conditions arise, we will carefully assess road conditions, building accessibility, and weather forecasts before making any adjustments to the school day. Families will be notified of delays, closures, or early dismissals through phone alerts, social media, and local news.
We encourage families to ensure contact information is up-to-date and to monitor our communication platforms when severe weather is expected.

Recent and Upcoming Cancellations
- Monday, January 26, 2026: No School (Asynchronous Learning)
- Tuesday, January 27, 2026: No School (Asynchronous Learning)
- Wednesday, January 28, 2026: No School (Traditional Make-Up Day) The School Make-Up Day will be held on Monday, February 16.
- Thursday, January 29: No School (Synchronous Learning)
- Friday, January 30: No School (Synchronous Learning)
Two Hour Delay Schedule
- Elementary School: Classes begin at 10:10 a.m.
- Junior High School: Classes begin at 10:05 a.m.
- High School: Classes begin at 10:05 a.m.
School Cancellation Procedures
In the event of school cancellation due to weather or emergencies, the district will utilize one of the following:
1. Virtual Learning (Asynchronous or students work independently on assignments throughout six days).
- Assignments will be posted by 10:00 a.m. on the day of cancellation.
- Students will have six school days to complete the assignments.
- Attendance will be marked six days after the missed day by 12:00 p.m.
- Households without internet access will be given paper copies of all assignments.
- Teachers can be reached via email with questions.
2. Virtual Learning (Synchronous or Live Instruction)
- Schools will send out a schedule for the day (Grade levels may meet at different times)
- Students will login to Google Classroom to watch live instruction
- Teachers and other staff will interact with students throughout the day (approximately 5 non-consecutive hours).
- Classroom teachers will share expectations, on-line links and other tools needed for the day.
- **This option will not be used when inclement weather is unexpected and students do not have advanced warning.
3. Traditional Make-Up Days
- Each school will provide parents and guardians with the necessary information needed to access assignments.
- In the event of consecutive cancelled days, the district will utilize snow make up days noted in the school calendar: January 19th, 2026, February 16th, 2026, April 6th, 2026, May 22, 2026.
Communication
- Notification of an adjusted school schedule or cancellation will take place as soon as possible. It is the goal of the district to notify school cancellations and delays before 5:45 a.m. when possible.
- Communication will take place by automated phone messages, emails, and posted on the district website.
