About MSDMV's School Board

The School Board for the Metropolitan School District of Mount Vernon is a group of locally elected community members committed to serving the students, families, and staff of our district. As a board, we work to set policies that support academic excellence, student well-being, and responsible fiscal management. We collaborate closely with the superintendent and district leadership to ensure all decisions reflect the best interests of our schools and community. Our goal is to provide an environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Board Spotlight: Kendra Bissesi

Kendra Bisesi is a realtor with RE/MAX. She and her husband, Austin, have three children in the MSD of Mount Vernon—two sons who attend Marrs Elementary and a daughter who is a student at Mount Vernon High School. Kendra is actively involved in the school community and currently serves as President of the Marrs Elementary PTO. Outside of real estate and volunteering, Kendra and her family enjoy attending local events and cheering on the kids at sporting events throughout the community.

What do you love about being on the school board?

"I love serving on the school board because it allows me to be actively involved in shaping the future of our schools. It’s an opportunity to help create positive change and ensure that our policies and decisions truly reflect the needs of our students, staff, and families. As a parent, I bring a firsthand perspective to the table, which I believe is incredibly valuable in the decision-making process."

What is your favorite thing about MV?

"What I love most about Mount Vernon is the sense of community. We’re a small town, but we offer big opportunities—for students, families, and businesses. It’s a place where people show up for each other, and that’s something really special."
