STUDENTS: If you arrive in the morning and do not have a mask you are to report to the main gym to receive one. Masks are to be worn so that they cover both your nose and mouth. Please pull your masks up when in the halls and when you can’t social distance.

STUDENTS: Please remember to take your pin number card with you to the lunch room. If you want, enter the number in your phone and show to the cafeteria cashier.

Picture day will be Thursday, September 3 .

Reminder: Student Council will meet tomorrow morning at 7:30 in the PAC. If you’d like to purchase a t-shirt please bring $10 to the meeting. It's not too late to join! Hope to see you there!

The Posey County Community Foundation is now accepting applications online for the 2021 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program. The deadline to apply is September 4, 2020. Seniors will receive an email with additional information.

STUDENT DRIVERS: You are required to have a parking sticker to park on school property. Authorized student parking areas are the football parking lot and the tennis parking lot. You are not authorized to park in the baseball parking lot.  Parking stickers are available in the school store for $10 and must be purchased by Friday, August 21.

There will be a meeting in the main gym, during reading period, on Thursday, August 27, for those boys interested in playing basketball this upcoming season. Please see Coach Newcomb if you are interested and unable to make the meeting.

Graduation Product Delivery

We look forward to seeing you this Friday, May 1, as we hand out  Cap and Gowns to the Class of 2020. We wanted to give you some important instructions on the process. With the COVID-19 situation, we will be dividing the class into smaller groups to help with social distancing. Many of you still need to complete coursework for high school and CAP classes, and we encourage you to continue to work hard on these assignments. If you still have course work to complete, you may keep your textbooks and MacBook until after May 14th and we will arrange for drop-off of assignments and  materials at a later date; however, if you are done with your course work by the afternoon of May 1st, please bring the following items to drop off prior to picking up your cap and gown:

1. MacBook Air laptop (carrying bag and strap, protective case, charger, and white extension cord for the charger)
2. Textbooks
3. Library books
4. Any other school district property

Please plan to enter Door 1, the main entrance on Harriett Street, and you will be directed to the correct location. You will exit the building from the athletic foyer onto Circle Drive. Please arrive following the schedule below:
  • A - F 1:00 pm
  • G - N 1:30 pm
  • O - S 2:00 pm
  • T - Y 2:30 pm

Information Regarding Scholarships Due Monday, March 30

The MSD of Mt. Vernon scholarships listed below are due Monday, March 30.  Students will be able to enter the school on Monday, March 30, from 8:00 to 11:00 am to turn in completed applications.
  • Anne E Bolger Scholarship
  • Bostick-Steinmetz Scholarship
  • Edward A Pence Scholarship
  • Gallucci-Steinmetz Scholarship
  • Thomas L., Myrtle R., Arch, and Elva Alexander Scholarship
  • Tri-Kappa Medical Scholarship
There will be a box for student scholarships immediately inside Door #1 at the high school.  If your scholarships are not in an envelope, there are envelopes you can use. Make sure your name is  written on the envelope.  
 
Please be sure to email Mrs. McCloud (mccloudtr@mvschool.org) a list of scholarships that you are submitting.  If teachers or other individuals have emailed recommendation letters to Mrs. McCloud, please email Mrs. McCloud to let her know which scholarships the letters go with.

We have placed a box for student scholarships immediately inside Door #1 at the high school .  If your scholarships are not in an envelope, there are envelopes you can use. Make sure your name is  written on the envelope. The school will be closed the week of Spring Break (March 23-27).
 
Please be sure to email Mrs. McCloud (mccloudtr@mvschool.org) a list of scholarships that you are submitting .

MVHS will be using eLearning days for March 16-20 and March 30-April 3.  Spring Break is March 23-27.

The April 4 ACT has been cancelled.  Students will receive an email from the ACT regarding make-up options.

The May 2 SAT has been cancelled.  The SAT will provide future additional testing opportunities for students as soon as it is feasible.

Do you want a glimpse of police life? The Mt. Vernon Junior Police Academy will take place this summer. You must have a g.p.a. of 3.0. See Sargeant Gonzalez for an application. Space is limited.

All seniors interested in participating in the Faculty vs. Senior Basketball Game on March 20, please see Mr. Krizan in room B105.

The Spring Musical “Legally Blonde” will be presented tonight and tomorrow. The presentation starts at 7:00 p.m. tonight and at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on tomorrow.

Congratulations to our MVHS Dance Cats on their regional championship. The Dance Cats will compete at State finals this weekend in Jeffersonville. Good Luck ladies!

Boys Golf will meet today after school at JHS 423 Health Room for paperwork and mandatory video.

Any sophomore, junior , or senior who has a cumulative g.p.a. of 3.5 or greater and who is not already a member of National Honor Society should have received a Student Activity Form that needs to be completed and returned to Mr. Riedford or Mr. Wheaton by Tuesday, March 10.   If you think you meet the requirement of having a g.p.a. of 3.5 or higher and did not receive a form, please let Mr. Riedford or Mr. Wheaton know ASAP.
