TO THE STUDENTS:

  • Mrs Glaser’s Drawing Class - Meet in her room F104 Wednesday and Thursday by 8:00am. Sooner if possible to get your supplies together. Don’t forget:*a sack lunch and drink *hat, BUG SPRAY, sunscreen *bag chair or picnic blanket *dress school appropriate and for the weather (no tank tops!)
  • After-Prom tickets will be on sale this Wednesday, Thursday & Friday during lunch.
  • Almost Anything Goes (Field Day) is on Friday, April 22nd. Please check your email to fill out the participation form by tomorrow Wednesday, April 20th if you are interested in participating in one of the games.

  • SENIORS:
  1. If you are planning on participating in the graduation ceremony you MUST order a cap & gown! Using past graduates' cap and gown is not allowed. If you don’t know if you have ordered a cap & gown, please stop by the counseling office and check with Mrs. Martin.

      2.  Seniors:  The state FAFSA deadline has been extended to Monday, April 18 due to the 15th being a state holiday.  See your emails from Mrs. Rose for details or stop by her office today or tomorrow.

      3.   Applications for the Elizabeth D. Baier Youth Spirit Award are available in the Counseling Office.  Completed applications must be postmarked to the United Way of Posey County by April 29. This $500 award will be given to a current junior whose residence is in Posey County and who has exhibited outstanding achievement in the following areas: leadership, volunteerism, and community involvement.

CONGRATULATIONS TO:
The boys track team competed at home against Tecumseh and Evansville Christian. The team finished 1st overall! First place finishers were:

  • The 4x800 relay with a team of Hayden Deckard, Colton Green, Ethan Sutfin, Carson Tucker
  • Ace Reeves in Long Jump
  • Jacob Swartz in the 110m and 300m Hurdles
  • River Snodgrass in the 400m Dash
  • Jackson Clowers in the 800m Run
  • Caleb Tyus in the 200m Dash and the 4x400 relay with a team of Caleb Tyus, Carson Tucker, Ace Reeves, and River Snodgrass

Girls Varsity Tennis finished 1st place at Mt.Vernon Invite and beat Evansville Day School yesterday 5-0.
The Lady 'Cats played a conference doubleheader on Saturday. In the first game, the 
'Cats were victorious over the Forest Park Rangers. Hannah West (2-4), Mallory Mason 
(2-3), Kaylen Salee (3-3), Baylee Rhodes (2-3), Bailey Cox (2-4), & Raycee Stallings 
(2-2) had multiple hits. Kayleen Salee & Mallory Mason led the team with 3 RBIs each! 
Kaylen Salee pitched the full game victory, only allowing 1 ER and striking out 6! 
The Lady 'Cats picked up their second win Saturday against Tell City! Mallory Mason 
(2-3), Bailey Cox (2-4), & Peyton Rush (3-4) had multiple hits. Kaylen Salee, Bailey Cox, Cora Bell, & Peyton Rush had 2 RBIs each!
Kaylen Salee secured the win in the circle striking out 5! It was a great day for softball!

  • Juniors please check your email and vote for commencement announcement.  Voting will close at 3pm on Tuesday, April 19th.

  • Also this past weekend Varsity Softball beat Washington - Washington, In 14-4      The Lady 'Cats earned their third conference win!  Every Wildcat had a hit in the game. Baylee Rhodes (3-3), Peyton Rush (2-4), and Raycee Stallings (3-3) led the team with multiple hits. Kaylen Salee (3), Bailey Cox (2), Peyton Rush (2), and Raycee Stallings (2) had multiple RBIs. Bailey Cox hit her second home run of the season! Kaylen Salee had the win in the circle, giving up no earned runs and striking out 8.

TO THE STUDENTS:

  • Cheer tryout call out meeting right now during reading period for students in grades 9 through 11 that are interested in trying out for the 22-23 cheer team. 
  • There will be NO detention today after school.
  • Mrs. Kavanaugh’s 3rd period class should report to the media center.
  • Congratulations to the Varsity baseball team for their win over Boonville 4-2 last night.  Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity opened up scoring in the first inning, when Payne Healy doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.Tyler Brown pitched Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity to victory. Brown lasted six innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out six and walking one. Hayden Huss threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Huss recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity.
  • Congratulations to the Boys Golf Team for their win last night. They opened up the season with a win over Day School and Harrison at Western Hills Country Club.  The Cats were led by Dru Henderson 40, Logan Dutkiewicz 48, Alex Carlisle 49, and Zach Culley 49.  The Cats will open tournament play this weekend at Country Oaks.  Team Scores: Mt. Vernon 187-Day School 209- Harrison 235
  • Congratulations to the Lady 'Cats for securing a big conference W against Boonville. Bailey Cox (2-3) and Peyton Rush (2-3) led the team with multiple hits. Baylee Rhodes (2) and Bailey Cox (3) had multiple RBIs! Bailey Cox had her first HR of the season with a 3-run shot in the bottom of the third! Kaylen Salee was on fire in the circle. She had the complete game win, while only allowing one earned run and striking out 7! The 'Cats are back in action on Saturday against Washington!

TO THE STUDENTS:

  • All girls basketball players interested in playing next year should be in Coach Steinharts classroom B115 at this time. 
  • There will be detention after school all this week (04/04/22 - 04/08/22) in Room B116.
  • Officers from the Mount Vernon Police Department will be joining us for lunch on Tuesday April 12th. Be sure to welcome them and feel free to sit and eat with them during your lunch break. 
  • SENIORS:
  1.  If you are planning on participating in the graduation ceremony you MUST order a cap & gown! Using past graduates' cap and gown is not allowed. If you don’t know if you have ordered a cap & gown, please stop by the counseling office and check with Mrs. Martin.

      2.  Mrs. McCloud has sent all Seniors an email to select students to be on the ballot for prom king and queen.  Please complete the google form by this Friday, April 1.

      3.   If you are considering attending college next year, you need to submit the FAFSA.  The state FAFSA deadline is April 15 which is in 2 1/2 weeks.   If you have questions or need assistance, see
           Mrs. Rose Tuesday or Wednesday this week.

  • Applications for the Elizabeth D. Baier Youth Spirit Award are available in the Counseling Office.  Completed applications must be postmarked to the United Way of Posey County by April 29. This $500 award will be given to a current junior whose residence is in Posey County and who has exhibited outstanding achievement in the following areas: leadership, volunteerism, and community involvement.
  • Prom tickets will be sold April 4 - 14.  They are $30 each.  If you are taking a guest that does not go to MVHS, you must have a guest date form signed before you can purchase your prom tickets.  Tickets will be sold before after school in Mrs. Hobgood and Mrs. Walter's rooms.  The last day to purchase prom tickets is April 14.
  • Congratulations to the following MVHS Athletic Teams this past weekend:
  1. Mt. Vernon Girls Varsity Tennis beat Pike Central High School 4-1
  2. Mt. Vernon Varsity Softball beat Edgewood High School 7-3. The Lady 'Cats kicked off the First Savings Bank with a win on Saturday morning. Kaylen Salee (2-3), Baylee Rhodes (2-4), Cora Bell (2-3), and Hannah West (2-4) led the team with multiple hits. Cora Bell & Hannah West had 2 RBIs each. Kaylen Salee pitched a gem in the circle going all 7 innings. She only gave up six hits and had 9 Ks! At 1:30pm Saturday the Varsity Cats went on to  beat Perry Central 11-1
  3. The Lady 'Cats won their first game of the FSB Invite! Baylee Rhodes (2-3), Bailey Cox (2-3), & Cora Bell (2-3) led the team with multiple hits. Mallory Mason had an in-the-park HR and 2 RBIs! Kaylen Salee secured the win in the circle. Kaylen went three innings, allowing only 1 hit and had 7 strikeouts. Peyton Rush had her first save of the season, closing the game out with 2 Ks and only allowing 2 hits. Defense was solid and committed no errors in the game. This win put the 'Cats into the championship game! 
  4. Lauren Carr for winning a  silver medal this last weekend at the State Special Olympics tournament. Go Dinosaurs!
  5. Anthony Muller and Braiden Royal high school athletes and Nick Gameday Burton, high school staff  for  earning a Gold Medal for Posey County Special Olympics 5 on 5 Basketball.   Good job, Dragons!

TO THE STUDENTS:

  • Good luck to our Special Olympic Student-Athletes that will be participating in the State Basketball tournament at the Indiana Pacers Facility in Indianapolis this weekend.  These student-athletes include Ethan Sutten, Lauren Carr, Drew Rapp, Anthony Muller, and Braiden Royal.
  • There will be NO after school detention today.
  • Officers from the Mount Vernon Police Department will be joining us for lunch on Tuesday April 12th. Be sure to welcome them and feel free to sit and eat with them during your lunch break.

  • Art Guild members: art camp set up is today after school until we are finished, hopefully by 5 o’clock if we work hard. Art Camp is tomorrow!  Be here at 7:30 in the morning at the circle drive, plan to stay till around 330 when we are finished cleaning up and debriefing. The club will provide lunch, bring a drink or money for a drink.

  • The Lady 'Cats had a strong showing against Bosse last night. The 'Cats offense was led by Cora Bell (3-4), Taylor Mason (2-3), Baylee Rhodes (2-3), Peyton Rush (2-4), and Mallory Mason (2-4). Mallory Mason, Peyton Rush, and Baylee Rhodes led the team with 2 RBIs each. Peyton Rush secured the win in the circle, striking out five and only giving up two hits in the six inning outing. The 'Cats are back in action tomorrow against South Spencer!

Daily Bulletin 03/15/22 - Gray Day

MT. VERNON HIGH SCHOOL DAILY BULLETIN

TO THE STUDENTS:

  • SENIORS if you are planning on participating in the graduation ceremony you MUST order a cap & gown! Using past graduates' cap and gown is not allowed. If you don’t know if you have ordered a cap & gown, please stop by the counseling office and check with Mrs. Martin.
  • Reminder to students the MAX limit of students sitting at one table at lunch is Six (6)
  • The US Army will be at MVHS on Wednesday, March 16th with their Special Ops Semi & other activities.. All study halls will visit the event on this day. 
  • All seniors wanting to participate in the Senior vs. Faculty basketball game this Friday, March 18th should sign up in Mr. Krizan's room (B105).
  • The Posey Humane Society Supply Drive ends this Friday, March 18. If Key Club members bring in 3-5 donation items to Mr. Ungetheim's room, it will count as a service project. Examples of donations are paper towels, dog & cat treats, dog & cat toys, gloves, food, etc. All donations are appreciated! 
  • Attention Senior Boys:  Anyone interested in being a Big Wildcat on Campus candidate, please attend the informational meeting this Friday during reading period in room A215.  If you cannot attend, please see River Snodgrass.
  • Any student interested in participating in the Junior Police Academy hosted by the Mount Vernon Police Department can pick up an application in the high school counseling office.  Session dates are:  June 6th - 9th (8am-12pm)  & June 10th (12pm-6pm)  For more information regarding the Junior Police Academy see School Resource Office Turner or call MVPD @ 812-838-8705  M-F (8am-4pm)
  • Seniors- It's time to submit your early childhood pictures for the Senior Video. Please include information about your plans after graduation. You can submit pictures to Mr. Pickrell at the Media Center. Include your name and phone number on the back of each photo. The deadline is Friday, March 31.
