TO THE STUDENTS:

• SENIORS if you are planning on participating in the graduation ceremony you MUST order a cap & gown! Using past graduates' cap and gown is not allowed. If you don’t know if you have ordered a cap & gown, please stop by the counseling office and check with Mrs. Martin.

• The Media Center will be closing at 11:30am today.

• Reminder to students the MAX limit of students sitting at one table at lunch is Six (6)

• The US Army will be at MVHS on March 16th with their Special Ops Semi & other activities.  All study halls will visit the event on this day. 

• All seniors wanting to participate in the Senior vs. Faculty basketball game on Friday, March 18th should sign up in Mr. Krizan's room (B105).

• The Posey Humane Society Supply Drive ends next Friday, March 18. If you are a Key Club member and bring in 3-5 donation items to Mr. Ungetheim's room, it will count as a service project. Examples of donations are paper towels, dog & cat treats, dog & cat toys, gloves, food, etc. All donations are appreciated! 

• Attention Senior Boys:  Anyone interested in being a Big Wildcat on Campus candidate, please attend the informational meeting this Friday during reading period in room A215.  If you cannot attend, please see River Snodgrass.

• National Honors Society Applications are due today by 3:15pm to Mr. Wheaton.

• Any student interested in participating in the Junior Police Academy hosted by the Mount Vernon Police Department can pick up an application in the high school counseling office.  Session dates are:June 6th-9th (8am-12pm) & June 10th (12pm-6pm)  For more information regarding the Junior Police Academy see School Resource Office Turner or call MVPD @ 812-838-8705 M-F (8am-4pm)

• Chicago: High School Edition opening tomorrow evening at 7:00 pm in the MVHS PAC.  Also showing Friday, 03/11/22 @ 7pm, Saturday, 03/12/22 @ 2pm & 7pm.  Lot's of talent in the cast, crew, and orchestra! You don't want to miss this!   Purchase tickets at  mvhsfinearts.ludus.com

• Seniors- It's time to submit your early childhood pictures for the Senior Video. Please include information about your plans after graduation. • If you are a sophomore, junior, or senior and have a cumulative gpa of 3.5 or better and you are not already a member of National Honor Society you should have received an e-mail from Mr. Riedford or Mr. Wheaton inviting you to fill out the paperwork that you need to complete in order to be considered for membership.  This application is due to  Mr. Wheaton by this Friday, March 11 at 3:15.

• English Team placed 1st with a near-perfect score of 24 of 25 points (Team members are Brenna Julian, Sidney Friedman, Emma Fisher, and Sophie Kloppenburg). 
• Math Team placed 1st with 22 points.  (Team members are Carson Tucker, Rossy Hollinger, Shelby Lang, and Rylan Paul). 
• Interdisciplinary Team placed 1st with a score of 19 points.  (Team members are Sidney Friedman, Carson Tucker, Dusten Anderson, and Christian Cole).
• Fine Arts Team placed 2nd with a score of 20 points.  (Team members are Sidney Friedman and Cora Bell).
• Social Studies Team placed 3 with 14 points.  (Team members are Christian Cole, Ainsley Pierce, and Noah Woods).

• The National Honor Society will be meeting tomorrow, March 10 at 7:30 am in the PAC.  All members are expected to be in attendance.  If you have a conflict and can not attend the meeting, please let Mr. Riedford or Mr. Wheaton know before the meeting.

• Congratulations to all of the State DECA participants who represented MVHS in Indianapolis.  The following awards were won:    Alessandro Bommarito and Nicolo Ghiotti - 7th Place - Travel and Tourism Marketing   Rylan Paul and Carson Tucker - 6th Place - Hospitality Marketing Kaleigh Kelley and Sophie Kloppenburg - 5th Place Hospitality Marketing    The following three students qualified for the International DECA competition in Atlanta,  Georgia by each finishing in the Top 25 students in the Midwest Region, which had about 1000 participants.  Carson Tucker, Scott Russel,l and Rylan Paul

• We are so proud of our choral students who participated in the ISSMA State Solo & Ensemble contest in Indianapolis this past weekend.  Jaycee Jarvis received a gold rating for her solo performance.  Renee Bippus and Julia Kingery both received distinguished gold for their solos. This means that their solos were at the top of the gold rating! Congratulations, ladies!

• Congratulations to the Mt Vernon Winter Guard on their 6th place finish and winter drumline on their 2nd place finish at this weekend's competition. Also a big congratulations to all of the students that participated in solo and ensemble. We had 15 silver medals and 10 gold medals. Let's cheer on Isaiah McFadden and Ainsley Pierce as they head to Indianapolis for the state solo and ensemble competition on the 26th."
