(Seniors must report to the auxiliary gym no later than 6:30 p.m.

• Volunteers are needed to help with Children's programs at the Alexandrian Public Library this summer.  If you are interested, please come to the library and ask at the front desk for a Volunteer Application Form.  We have lots of fun activities scheduled for this summer.
• All books checked out from the Media Center are now due.
• Students if you have four (4) finals on a single day (May 24th or 25th), then he/she can get permission from Mr. Jones to arrange with their teachers to take at least one of the finals on an alternate day. The deadline for getting approval is May 19th at 3:05 pm.
• Cheer tryouts for 2022-2023 school year will be next week. Workshop days will be  Tuesday and Wednesday with tryouts being Thursday and Friday.

• At this time there is a meeting for all boys planning to play basketball this season in the Boys Basketball Locker room. 
• There is also a meeting in the PAC at this time for football players held in the PAC during the reading period. 
• Students you will only have 5 minute passing between classes tomorrow.

CONGRATULATIONS to…

• Varsity Baseball beat Pike Central Middle/High School 10-5
• Kendric Sorgius, Isaac Burdette, and Jagar Dent each drove in runs during the inning. The Wildcat Varsity got things started in the second inning when Payne Healy homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs then scored five runs in the fourth inning.  A single by Keaton Kern, a home run by Hayden Huss, and a double by Jack Campbell put pressure on Pike Central.Tyler Brown took the win for Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity. The righthander surrendered five runs on three hits over four and a third innings, striking out seven.  Nate Howard threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.  Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity smacked two home runs on the day. Healy had a long ball in the second inning. Huss went deep in the fourth inning.Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity had 13 hits in the game.  Healy and Kern each had multiple hits for Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity.  Healy went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity in hits.

• Varsity Softball beat Ev. Harrison 18-4     
• The Lady 'Cats had a big win against Harrison last night! Baylee Rhodes (2-3), Taylor Mason (3-4), & Mallory Mason (2-2) led the team in hits. Kaylen Salee (2), Baylee Rhodes (4), & Taylor Mason (2) had multiple RBIs. Kaylen Salee secured her 11th win of the season, pitching three innings and only allowing one hit. She struck out six in the outing. LaRissa White came into the game in the fourth and closed it out!

CONGRATULATIONS to…

• Varsity Baseball beat Heritage Hills High School 7-2     Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity grabbed an early lead on its way to a 7-2 victory over Heritage Hills on Saturday.  Wildcats scored on a double by Keaton Kern in the first inning, a single by Hayden Huss, a double by Braxton Daws, and a single by Payne Healy in the second inning.   Tyler Brown led Wildcats Varsity to victory on the mound. The righthander surrendered two runs on five hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out five.  Huss threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.   Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity tallied 11 hits.  Kern, Jack Campbell, and Daws each racked up multiple hits for the Wildcats.  Kern led the Wildcats with three hits in four at bats.

CONGRATULATIONS to…

Varsity Baseball beat Southridge High School 11-9. 
Jack Campbell started the game for Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity. The righty allowed nine hits and five runs over four innings, striking out two and walking zero.
Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity stole the lead late and defeated Southridge 11-9 on Thursday.  Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity trailed 7-6 in the top of the seventh inning when Hayden Huss doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring three runs.  Huss earned the victory on the mound for Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity. The pitcher went two-thirds of an inning, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out one and walking zero.  Kyle Holder and Braxton Daws entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.  Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity saw the ball well today, racking up 12 hits in the game.  Aidan Watters, Connor Stevens, Huss, and Tyler Brown all managed multiple hits for Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity.  Watters went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Mt. Vernon Wildcats Varsity in hits.

CONGRATULATIONS to…

• Maddie Maier was Conference Champion Tuesday  night in the pole vault and broke a school record of 9 feet made in 2007, jumping 9 feet 6 inches. Hannah West was Conference Champion in the discus throwing 122 feet 4 1/2 inches. Congratulations to both of these champions and congratulations to Maddie for breaking the school record in the pole vault!!!!

 - The National Honor Society will be meeting this Thursday, May 12 at 7:30 am.  If you have a conflict and can not attend, please let Mr. Riedford or Mr. Wheaton know before the meeting. 
         Senior members will be meeting in the cafeteria for their senior breakfast.
         Sophomore and Junior members will meet in the media center.  All members are expected to be in attendance.

Congratulations to everyone that qualified and competed at the International DECA competition in Atlanta.  In 25 years nobody for Southern Indiana has finished 1st place in any event at this competition until Tuesday.  In an event, the Stock Market Game, that started with about 20,000 students, Carson Tucker finished in 1st place.  Carson received his award on stage at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Tuesday evening.  Congratulations Carson!

• For all Brittlebank Pool workers for this upcoming summer, the pre-employment drug screen scheduled for today after school has had to be rescheduled. You will be informed of the new date by Parks and Rec staff as soon as possible.
• Friday, April 29th @ 1:50pm students should report to their coordinating groups. You will sit in the coordinating group in the PAC with your coordinating group teacher and attendance will be taken.
• Volunteers are needed to help with Children's programs at the Alexandrian Public Library this summer.  If you are interested, please come to the library and ask at the front desk for a Volunteer Application Form.  We have lots of fun activities scheduled for this summer.
• Expressway Auto Mall in Mount Vernon has a PART TIME RECEPTIONIST job open flyers regarding this job can be obtained in the counseling office.

• MVHS will be hosting a blood drive this Friday, April 29. You may sign up to give using the google form link that was emailed to you. To give blood you must  Be in good general health and feeling well Be at least 17-years-old, or 16-years-old with parental consent  Weigh at least 110 lbs.

• SENIORS:

1. If you are planning on participating in the graduation ceremony you MUST order a cap & gown! Using past graduates' cap and gown is not allowed. If you don’t know if you have ordered a cap & gown, please stop by the counseling office and check with Mrs. Martin.
2. The FAFSA state deadline has been extended.  If you need assistance, see Mrs. Rose.  The next state deadline will not be announced in advance so complete it ASAP if you are considering attending college anytime during next school year.
3. Applications for the Elizabeth D. Baier Youth Spirit Awards are available in the Counseling Office.  Completed applications must be postmarked to the United  Way of Posey County by April 29. This $500 award will be given to a current junior whose residence is in Posey County and who has exhibited outstanding achievement in the following areas: leadership, volunteerism, and community involvement.

CONGRATULATIONS to the following:

• Mt. Vernon Concert Band received straight gold ratings at their ISSMA Concert Festival
• Connor King competed in the Kentucky Welding Institute this past weekend against 140 welders from all over the US.  Congrats Conner on your 1st place win!
• Varsity Baseball beat Princeton 8-1    Daws gets the win.  Goes 5 innings giving up 1 run.  Healy was relieved with 2 scoreless innings.  Huss hit a 3 run homer in the 6th, went 3 for 4 with 5 RBi's    Tyler Brown, Keaton Kern and Josh Shumate each had 2 hits.
• Varsity Golf ties Evansville Central High School 181-181   Mt. Vernon came up 2 strokes short to Central due to a 5th player team score. Mt. Vernon and Central both recorded a 181, but ties must go to a 5th score.  Odney from Central came in with a 52, while Zach Culley came in with a 54 for Mt. Vernon.  Dru Henderson continued his solid play with a medalist score of 37.  Dru is one of the top players in the Tri-State area. Mt. Vernon Scores  Dru Henderson 37, Mack Conyers 47, Alex Carlisle 48, Logan Dutkiewicz 49,
