  • THIS WEEKEND: Swim club is in need of volunteers to help work the swim meet this weekend. Could you help publicize this for any groups that need volunteer hours? Email coach Erinn Jankowski if interested:    Saturday 12/03/22   (7:00 am - 1:30 pm) & (1:00 pm - 6 pm)    Sunday   12/04/22   (7:00 am - 12:00 pm) & (12:00 pm - 4:00 pm)
  • In January, Mt. Vernon will begin an eSports program to compete against other high schools in the state.  Students interested in being a part of the team, should see one of the posters hanging in the school and scan the QR code to complete an application.  If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Kissinger.
  • Are you interested in making Game Days more fun for our home crowds and more difficult for opposing teams? Then come be a part of MV Pep Club-- $10 will get you a T-shirt and free admission to all home sporting events for the entire school year!  ALL students are encouraged to participate and join Pep Club so that we create an ALL IN experience for all of our home games throughout the year.  This Thursday morning at 7:15am we will meet to discuss the theme and prepare for the North Posey boys basketball game for Friday evening. Bring your friends and come join us for FREE breakfast! See Coach Lopez with any questions. 
  • December 6th, 7th and 8th auditions for the Spring musical, Cinderella.  Sign up sheet in the choir hallway.  Band and Choir Christmas Concert on December 5th at 6:30pm in the PAC.

  • December 3rd Winter Formal - MVHS Cafeteria (7pm-11pm) Tickets will be sold Wednesday 11/30, Thursday 12/01 and Friday 12/02 during lunch this week.  They will be $20. If you have a guest that is not a MVHS student, please get a form from the counseling office and return it completed to the main office.  Your guest will not be able to attend if the form is not approved before purchasing their ticket. 
  • April 29, 20223 - Prom at USI in Carter Hall from 8:00pm-11:00pm.  Tickets will be sold 3 weeks prior to prom and tickets will be $30 each.
  • Donation drive for Evansville's YWCA. The YWCA provides services for domestic and sexual violence and housing for women and girls. Some ideas to donate to the YWCA are body wash/gel, bath towels and washcloths, shower loofah balls, Clorox wipes, fuzzy blankets, new bed pillows, arts and crafts kits for kids, copy paper, deodorant, razors, laundry hampers, fuzzy socks, bandaids, Play-Doh or slime. The items can be dropped off at Mr. Ungetheim, Mr. Bacon, or Mr. Krizan's room until December 9."

Congratulations:

  • Boys Varsity Wrestling beat Indian Creek High School 41-39. In a very exciting dual, Mount Vernon takes the W against Indian Creek @ the Edgewood Invite. Mason Suits, Grant Lippe, Ethan Yarber, and Hunter Elderkin all provided falls for the wildcats helping them narrowly surpass the Braves.
  • Varsity Wrestling beat Ben Davis High School 34-30. The team was led by Maddox Suits, Malachi Spainhoward, Noah Barritt, Zack Bulkley, Connor Collins, and Bryce Bourne who all captured falls for the Wildcats.

Congratulations:

The MVHS boys basketball team tipped off the season with a win at Vincennes Rivet Tuesday night. The Cats raced out to a 36 point lead at halftime and cruised in the 2nd half to a 64-18 victory. Leading the Wildcats in scoring was Jackson Clowers with 26 points. Jack Campbell was also in double figures with 10 points.  

The boys will be back on the floor for their home opener next Friday night for their home opener against rival North Posey. The JV will tip at 6pm and the Varsity will follow around 7:30pm. The theme for the night is "Whiteout" and all fans are encouraged to participate.

  • November 21 at 3:30 p.m. - Teen Cuisine - Tiffany Haug of Purdue Extension will be at the Alexandrian Public Library to teach teens about nutrition and cooking. For high school students (ages 14-18). Designed to equip teens with necessary life skills and the knowledge to make healthier choices, Teen Cuisine also features exciting hands-on cooking classes and pulse-rising exercise sessions. Registration is open.

  • The Girls Varsity Wrestling team competed in their first wrestling meet of the season with Hannah West placing 1st in her division. 
  • Girls Varsity Swimming placed 2nd in their invitational.  First place finishers were

Daily Bulletin 11/17/22 - Maroon Gay

MT. VERNON HIGH SCHOOL DAILY BULLETIN
Thursday, November 17th - Maroon Day 

 TO THE STUDENTS: 

  • Be on the lookout!  Winter Formal tickets will be sold next Monday and Tuesday during lunch. They will also be sold Wednesday, Thursday and Friday after Thanksgiving. They will be $20. If you have a guest that is not a MVHS student, please get a form from the counseling office and return it completed to the main office.  Your guest will not be able to attend if the form is not approved before purchasing their ticket. 
  • Students who ride Bus 31 should ride Bus 17 today and Friday.
  • On November 28, 2022 all student drivers MUST have a parking sticker displayed on their vehicle to park on school property. Parking stickers can be purchased from Mrs. Tucker in the bookstore for $10.00.  Failure to purchase a parking sticker will result in loss of parking privileges on school grounds and disciplinary action.
  • Donation drive for Evansville's YWCA. The YWCA provides services for domestic and sexual violence and housing for women and girls. Some ideas to donate to the YWCA are body wash/gel, bath towels and washcloths, shower loofah balls, Clorox wipes, fuzzy blankets, new bed pillows, arts and crafts kits for kids, copy paper, deodorant, razors, laundry hampers, fuzzy socks, bandaids, Play-Doh or slime. The items can be dropped off at Mr. Ungetheim, Mr. Bacon, or Mr. Krizan's room until December 9."
  • November 14 and 21 at 3:30 p.m. - Teen Cuisine - Tiffany Haug of Purdue Extension will be at the Alexandrian Public Library to teach teens about nutrition and cooking. For high school students (ages 14-18). Designed to equip teens with necessary life skills and the knowledge to make healthier choices, Teen Cuisine also features exciting hands-on cooking classes and pulse-rising exercise sessions. Registration is open.
  • Altered Schedule Dates for November & December (subject to change)

TO THE STUDENTS: 

  • Students who ride Bus 21 should ride Bus 47 until further notice.
  • On November 28, 2022 all student drivers MUST have a parking sticker displayed on their vehicle to park on school property. Parking stickers can be purchased from Mrs. Tucker in the bookstore for $10.00.  Failure to purchase a parking sticker will result in loss of parking privileges on school grounds and disciplinary action.
  • All detention hours must be served by tomorrow.  Detention hours can be served in the morning outside of Mr. Fischer’s office, or after school in room B116.
