Personnel Office

The Personnel Office at the Metropolitan School District (MSD) of Mt. Vernon assumes the responsibility for the district-wide program of selection and employment of all staff including certified, teacher assistants, nurses, secretaries, custodians, bus drivers, information systems, cafeteria, maintenance, and substitute personnel.

The MSD of Mt. Vernon will recruit, hire, train, and promote persons in all job titles without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, veteran status, sex, age (except where sex or age is a bona-fide occupational qualification, as defined by law), or physical or mental disability (except where the disability prevents the individual from being able to perform the essential functions of the job and cannot be reasonably accommodated in full compliance with the law).

Vernon.  This district places the highest priority on the recruitment and selection of top quality personnel for all positions in the school district.  The nature of the services provided to students requires that school employees possess the knowledge, skills, and character necessary to effectively perform their duties and responsibilities.  

The MSD of Mt. Vernon employment application is completed on-line.  Paper applications are not available

Teachers who did not hold an individual teacher's contract with MSD of Mt. Vernon for 2019-2020 will be classified as new teachers and will be paid a salary for 2020-2021 based on the above 2020-2021 schedule. New teachers who do not possess a content area Masters degree at their hire date will be placed no higher than 10 years. New teachers who are receiving a state teacher retirement pension at their hire date will be placed no higher than 5 years. See the Teacher Salary Schedule for specific annual contracted amounts.
