CONGRATULATIONS:

  • The Mount Vernon boys basketball team won on Friday night over Harrisburg 63-49. The Cats raced out to a 23-10 lead after the 1st thanks in part to their defensive pressure that forced several turnovers and led to some easy transition baskets. In the second half Mt. Vernon withstood a Harrisburg 3rd quarter run and answered with their own in the 4th quarter to take back control of the game.  Leading the Cats in scoring was Jackson Clowers with 19 points. Nicot Burnett added 17 points. Brady Schickel had 15 points, including 2 late three pointers in the 4th to help ice the game. Fellow freshman Nash Hostetter had 12 points to round Mt. Vernon's scoring.
  • The Mt. Vernon Wildcats won again on Saturday evening beating the Fairfield Mules 55-49. Mt. Vernon did a great job defensively the final 3 quarters holding them to 29 over that span. Nicot Burnett led the way for Mt. Vernon scored a career high 32 points. Jackson Clowers had 15 points for the Wildcats and did a great job on the glass.
  • The Mount Vernon Wildcats were dominant in the pool at the PAC Conference Championships. The Wildcats won 9/12 events, set 6 new PAC records, and almost doubled the points of the 2nd place team. The swimmers return to action in 2 weeks at the Sectional Championships. Great job, ladies!
