Meet the Principal: dr scott strieter

My name is Scott Strieter, and I have the pleasure of serving the Mt. Vernon community as Principal of Mt. Vernon High School.  I joined the MVHS faculty/staff in the summer of 2024, after serving 18 years as principal of North Posey High School.  I have been in education since 1995 and have been fortunate enough to teach and coach for 8 years prior to becoming an administrator in 2003. I graduated from Reitz High School in 1990, the University of Evansville in 1995, and am proud to have completed my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Oakland City University in 2010.

Being a native of the Westside of Evansville has ingrained in me a strong sense of values and expectations within a tight knit community.  Being a servant leader of Mt. Vernon High School is what I do everyday and will continue build upon the foundation that has already been established by those before me.  Establishing life-lasting relationships and providing MVHS students with their own individual success pathway to graduation is my goal each and every day.

I firmly believe my role as high school principal is to ensure the safety of all stakeholders in our building, surround our students with only the best adults/role models, and provide a culture within our school that makes our community proud to wear the MV!

Meet the Vice Principal: Cody Ungetheim

Welcome to Mt. Vernon High School! My name is Cody Ungetheim, and I serve as the Assistant Principal. Our primary mission and goal is to ensure we provide an environment that is both safe for all our students and one that actively challenges them to be the very best they can be.

My journey in education began right here in Posey County. I first started as a substitute teacher at the MSD of Mt. Vernon District. I then taught in the EVSC before becoming a teacher at Mt. Vernon High School. Growing up in Posey County, I'm deeply thankful to have been raised in a community where the importance of hard work, integrity, and strong relationships are cornerstones. These values are something we hope to instill in our students each and every day.

I pursued my higher education at the University of Southern Indiana where I earned a Bachelor's degree in History along with a minor in Secondary Education. I also hold a Master's in School Administration and Leadership at the University of Southern Indiana.

I've had the privilege of serving our students, staff, and families as the Assistant Principal at Mt. Vernon High School since 2023, and I look forward to continuing to foster a supportive and challenging environment for all our students.
